File Preparation & Artwork Guidelines

Proper artwork preparation helps us produce sharp, vibrant, and professional-quality DTF transfers while preventing production delays. Please review these requirements before uploading your design or ordering a custom DTF gang sheet.

Preferred File Format

For the best results, submit your artwork as a:

• PNG file

• Transparent background

• 300 DPI resolution

• Created at the exact size you want printed

Vector files such as SVG, EPS, AI, or print-ready PDF may require review before production. Convert all fonts to outlines before submitting editable vector artwork.

Image Resolution

Your artwork should be approximately 300 DPI at the final print size. Low-resolution images may appear blurry, pixelated, or uneven when printed.

For example:

• A 10-inch-wide design at 300 DPI should be approximately 3,000 pixels wide

• A 12-inch-wide design at 300 DPI should be approximately 3,600 pixels wide

Simply enlarging a low-resolution image does not improve its quality. Avoid using screenshots, social-media downloads, thumbnails, or images copied from websites.

Transparent Background

Artwork should have a fully transparent background unless the background is intended to be printed.

Before uploading, carefully check for:

• Unwanted white or colored boxes

• Stray pixels around the design

• Rough or faded edges

• Background areas that were not completely removed

• Unwanted objects or marks

A white background and a transparent background are not the same. Any visible background included in your file may be printed.

Semi-Transparent Effects

DTF printing may not reproduce certain transparent effects exactly as they appear on a screen. Use caution with:

• Glows

• Drop shadows

• Faded edges

• Low-opacity elements

• Soft transparency

• Smoke or mist effects

These elements may need to be converted into a printable halftone or solid-color effect. Contact us before ordering if you are unsure whether your artwork is ready.

Fine Lines and Small Details

Extremely thin lines, tiny text, and very small details may not print or adhere properly. Review your artwork at its intended physical size and make sure all important elements are clear, readable, and thick enough to transfer successfully.

Gang Sheet Preparation

When creating a custom DTF gang sheet:

• Use the exact dimensions of the gang sheet you are ordering

• Keep every design completely inside the print area

• Do not overlap artwork

• Leave enough space between designs for cutting

• Check the size and quantity of every design

• Remove all unwanted backgrounds

• Submit one completed, print-ready file

We recommend leaving approximately 0.25 inch of space between designs when manual cutting space is needed.

Colors and Screen Differences

Colors may appear different between monitors, phones, and printed products. Screen brightness, display settings, fabric color, and printing conditions can affect the final appearance.

We cannot guarantee an exact screen-to-print color match. If exact brand colors are essential, contact us before placing your order.

Text, Spelling, and Design Orientation

Before submitting your artwork, confirm:

• All spelling and grammar are correct

• Names, dates, and numbers are accurate

• The design is properly aligned

• The artwork is the correct size

• No elements are missing

• The file contains the correct design version

Artwork is generally printed as submitted. DTF Transfers Your Way is not responsible for errors already present in customer-supplied files.

Artwork Editing

Uploaded artwork should be complete and ready to print. Background removal, logo recreation, resolution improvement, color correction, and other design changes are not automatically included with your order.

If your artwork needs editing, contact us before ordering to confirm whether design assistance is available and whether an additional fee applies.

Customer Responsibility

By submitting artwork, you confirm that you own the design or have permission to reproduce it. Customers are responsible for reviewing all artwork, dimensions, colors, spelling, transparency, and placement before completing an order.
